Triathlon Fever!

I finished my first triathlon last weekend and it was super fun! My friend Valerie was my coach and convinced me to do it with her. We trained when we could, having 8 kids between the two of us, and what a blast we had.
Swim: 400 meters
Bike: 12 miles
Run 3.1 miles
If I could do the swim, anyone could, for I am not what you call a fish by any means and I could only go swimming four times before the race. But I did not drown, so that's good!

After the race with our babes

Finished at last...I am the pink gal in the middle. As you can see from the jackets, it was a chilly morning, but the lake water was thankfully 75 degrees.

My small battle wound. During the bike portion, about 2 miles in, I saw my gear wire had come unhooked and was flaying in the wind and getting caught in my pedal. Great, now what? I tried to hold it with my right had but it caught in my pedal and sliced my hand. I had to stop several times and figure out what to do. Finally, I figured out how to keep it from getting caught in the chain and pedal, and I mounted and slowly made my way past the 4 mile marker...my poor mountain bike with sad gears made it to the finish. At least it was a pretty ride! I made up some time on the run and finished at last! It was awesome and I can't wait for the next one...with a trusty road bike of course!

Nothing like a good feed to doze off with! I just love to squish your belly Connor!

This is what happens when you fill the blender too full with hot soup! It's not throw up, I promise!

Wonder Woman!!! I'm so proud of you! Even more impressive than the triathlon is that you made soup for dinner and cleaned up the mess. We should get a trophy for that EVERY night....

Love and miss you.

That's pretty crazy and great!! That's great that you can still do a triathlon with twins, that makes me think that if you can do it, maybe I could do that someday.

Oh my goodness, congratulations! Good for you for including exercise in your list of essentials. You must have a great friend to encourage you and help out. Your experience sounds like mine... I did pretty good on the swim, but me on a mountain bike... bikers were zooming past me constantly. And I really wanted to tie a pillow to my bike seat but Ezra wouldn't let me. But it is so fun anyway!
