Turkey Tunes

I don't have much time to create something witty in this post (was I ever anyway?), but I needed to post something. So enjoy!
Jace in his Turkey Tunes program. We posted his hammed up clip on You Tube. The first 20 seconds crack us up and and watch it when I need a laugh.

Thanksgiving, again, Jace the actor!

When Ron is around, the babies don't want me... and you know what, I'm okay with that!
This is before Connor's tongue clip. He can stick it out much farther now!

Ronnie, you are a gem! (he just saw me write that and said, "I am not a gem!)

Who doesn't love the tramp?

Babies ready for Christmas! Have a merry Christmas season! Kids are home from school now so the busy evening begins full steam until 8:30...

Creepy Crawlers!

Ron thinks it's great they are starting to mobilize, I on the other hand know that my work of keeping them out of things is about to abound!

Triathlon Fever!

I finished my first triathlon last weekend and it was super fun! My friend Valerie was my coach and convinced me to do it with her. We trained when we could, having 8 kids between the two of us, and what a blast we had.
Swim: 400 meters
Bike: 12 miles
Run 3.1 miles
If I could do the swim, anyone could, for I am not what you call a fish by any means and I could only go swimming four times before the race. But I did not drown, so that's good!

After the race with our babes

Finished at last...I am the pink gal in the middle. As you can see from the jackets, it was a chilly morning, but the lake water was thankfully 75 degrees.

My small battle wound. During the bike portion, about 2 miles in, I saw my gear wire had come unhooked and was flaying in the wind and getting caught in my pedal. Great, now what? I tried to hold it with my right had but it caught in my pedal and sliced my hand. I had to stop several times and figure out what to do. Finally, I figured out how to keep it from getting caught in the chain and pedal, and I mounted and slowly made my way past the 4 mile marker...my poor mountain bike with sad gears made it to the finish. At least it was a pretty ride! I made up some time on the run and finished at last! It was awesome and I can't wait for the next one...with a trusty road bike of course!

Nothing like a good feed to doze off with! I just love to squish your belly Connor!

This is what happens when you fill the blender too full with hot soup! It's not throw up, I promise!

6 months-the cup is half full!

Six month stats:
Brayden: 19 lbs.
Connor: 20 lbs. 5 oz.

The past six months has definitely been full and I feel like my cup runneth over! We have enjoyed this twin experience-they have made their niche in our home and their individual personalities are emerging. We have learned what are non-essentials in life and don't have time for them anyway...blogging is a little indulgence that I allow myself ;)
We have learned a lot about ourselves by being pushed to our limits in patience and energy. My hat goes off to parents everywhere with their various challenges and wish you the best, really!

Ron drove to Mississippi with Ronnie and Jace to see BYU play Ole Miss

Wahoo, quilt project completed!

Yeah, I know, big shocker that I finished a project! It helps when friends cut out your quilting squares and hold babies while you sew. Thanks friends!

To prevent the humidity from seeping through the blanket's bottom (as well as our own) as we eat our picnic lunch, I put vinyl tablecloth fabric underneath. We'll see how well it holds up!

Sorry about the blurry pictures, had to take them quick!

Goodbye summer, hello school!

Can you believe we are in our second week of school? It starts early here. Good thing cuz I was running out of ideas to keep us busy! Five kids seven and under at home during a hot hot summer...we made it!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids but you reach a point where you and they (is that correct English) are ready to progress, correct?
Jace joined the ranks of elementary students this year and he was soooo ready to go!

Goodbyes to sweet Becca

Gotta love the excitement of a kindergartener

My super sweet sister Jennie stayed with us for ten days! Connor always sticks his tongue out

We took family pictures...here's a funny blooper. Not quite sure how we are going to choose a normal one...but that's what makes it so fun!

Key to Paradise

Our key to paradise this last week was a vacation!!! We really needed to just relax and veg and we are sad the trip was over so soon. But it was definitely what we needed.

Savannah, Georgia:
A fun, touristy town with lots of shops- we, of course, were patrons of the candy shop

Savannah has cool, weeping trees that Brayden and I admired

Hilton Head Island, SC is where we spent most of our time: 80 degree water, beautiful sand, the prettiest beach town we have ever seen

Thing 1 and Thing 2 approved of our vacation

We even had time to practice talents like blowing bubbles out of our noses

It was great to play with the kids and see an accounting professor unwind.
When we got home Becca asked when we could plan our next vacation...NOW is what I say

Jace is Jiven' Now He's Fiven!

Happy Birthday Jace (June 28th)

Of course we went swimming because Jace is part fish part boy

Ring pops all around

Jace finished his swim team season and did great! He got beast of the week after his first meet because even though he was scared to death, his goggles had filled with water, and he was frantically searching for anyone to save him in the water, he finished his race! He was happy to get his trophy that all the swimmers get but he got a special medal, the "Driver" award that only one boy in his age group gets. He got it because he worked very hard and improved a lot in six weeks. Proud of you fish boy!

Little Fatties

Although not the most flattering of terms, "Little Fatties" perfectly describes our twinsies!
The results of today's weigh in at 4 months old:
Connor: 18 lbs 5 oz
Brayden: 16 lbs 12 oz

They are now in 6-9 month old clothes!

Brayden kept collapsing into Connor's mass

Fat and Sassy!

Nothing like a strong shoulder to lean on

Is that a little twinkle of mischief in Brayden's eye already?

Happy Birthday Becca and more

My blogging is a bit random of late-I'm lucky to post at all. Life continues to keep us on our toes but here is a bit of our fun times, albeit full of scrapes, blowouts, nosebleeds, and the lot.

Miss Becca is now 3 years old and already has the stamina of a great shopper, clothes folder, spit up wiper, color-er, and is just full of sweetness and spunk!

Tink joined us in her upside down strawberry dress-Becca loved it. My first try at fondant and it turned out pretty well...what do you think Tina?

Identical or what? We will move them to their own cribs soon

Ron's sis Ashley helped me out while Ron went to a conference, we miss her terribly-yes, Jace was mining for gold :P

Ah, we got it on camera this time Brayden!

My brother Ray and his wife Rachel and cute little boy Michael came to visit. The kids loved Michael and we miss them all!

Connor displays the fun in the sun we have had, ah we love summer

My Graduation Party

I am finally a BYU alumnus! Hurray!
After graduating from high school 10 years ago, I can now receive a college alumni magazine ;)
But I cannot take all the credit.
Many friends and family supported me and helped me tremendously along the way mostly by watching my kids. All the late nights and early mornings were worth it, although I wanted to quit many times, especially while Ron was in school. I'm glad it's done!

My awesome friends gave me a surprise graduation party with a cool cake!

Cutting the pretty cake

This is my number one supporter! Ron never complained once about me working on my degree. He sacrificed his own hobbies so I had time to study. He corrected my many papers and always listened when I stressed. I gave him a piece of cake :)

Trying to get Brayden to crack a smile, he usually does but not for the camera

Although it was tricky to have children while working on my degree, I learned many valuable lessons along the way and loved my major: Family Life

The doggy is looking smaller now

Nice chin(s) Connor!

I thought the floating ball in this picture was cool.

Ron gave me a new camera for my graduation present and I plan on getting more into photography with all this time on my hands ;)
